There is a strange period when your daughter is little and she thinks you know everything.

You can fix anything. You know where you're going. You're extremely strong. Your jokes are excellent. If you say the moon is following the car, she has no reason to question it.

For a while, you are basically the coolest person she knows.

This is Girl Dad.

We started it because having a daughter changes the way you look at a lot of things.

You think more about the example you're setting. How you spend your time. The way you talk to people. The things you bring into your home. Where you take her. What you show her. What she sees when she's watching you and you don't realize she's watching.

You also spend a surprising amount of time thinking about strollers.

Both can be true.

Girl Dad is about that whole life.

The important stuff, certainly. Raising a daughter. Being there. Becoming the kind of man you'd be proud for her to grow up around.

But also Saturday morning coffee. The restaurant where bringing a toddler doesn't ruin everyone's night. The sneakers that survive the playground. The hotel room that actually works with a crib. The running stroller worth buying. The book you should read. The place worth taking her. The hat you grab on the way out the door.

Because fatherhood isn't a separate category of your life.

It's your life.

And when you have a daughter, the world you were already building gets more interesting because you're showing it to somebody else.

That is what you'll find here.

Stories about fatherhood without pretending we have fatherhood figured out.

Recommendations for things we've found, tried and genuinely like.

Places worth going, with and occasionally without your daughter.

Thoughts on style, travel, food, culture and the other things we cared about before anyone started calling us Dad.

And the occasional reminder that the small stuff probably isn't as small as it seems.

We aren't interested in telling anyone how to parent.

There are plenty of places on the internet for that.

Girl Dad is for dads who love having daughters. Who take the job seriously without needing to take themselves particularly seriously. Who want to show up, have some fun and build a life their daughters are excited to be part of.

Some days that means teaching her something important.

Some days it means knowing where to get a very good slice of pizza after the playground.

We'll talk about both.

Welcome to Girl Dad.

She thinks you're the coolest person alive.

Act accordingly.
